Re: D&D 3.5 - Ravenloft
Either I totally missed it, or it wasn't mentioned...
Are we supposed to assume characters are from one of the various domains inside of Ravenloft, or are they going to be outsiders who get pulled in from elsewhere?

Either actually and yes, good point. I'll add that information when I get out of bed.
Basically you can be a native or non-native.
Choice doesn't matter statwise, but may and likely will make a difference in RP terms.

Aye, that's basicly why I was wondering. It will definitely have an impact on how a character will view the world/events in Ravenloft as the party moves about.

A little late to the party but how would you folks feel about an additional member of the party?
I'm floating the idea in my head about a cleric with a general build other than a heal-bot or offensive caster, although something along the same lines as my previous Favored Soul would be nice to play as well.
Anyway.. let me know if you think you require another member. If not then it's all good. I can find another game.

John mate - have a read of the special rules we are playing for Ravenloft. Magic is being handled very carefully and in a special way... also numerous other rules for this one.

Re: D&D 3.5 - Ravenloft
Hey John,
Long time no see and of course you're welcome to play mate
I'm having a little dilemma at the moment in regards to functional classes. Whilst cleric is naturally an open choice, I'm not sure (at the moment) that I'd like another magic user (gifted) in the group.
Also as Trom said, you must be aware that the entire PHB is out of the window as far as magic is concerned and you will likely never get the ability to heal people, it would, if anything, be more defensive and protective in nature.
The game is more modern in a lot of regards, so really having an occupation is sort of more important than having a class (obviously the class does everything, but if you look at the other PCs you'll see they all have a job/role from drunken playboy aristocrat to survivalist doctor).
Just having a think, how about the below or something similar. You see I'm trying to find places in the group at the moment which aren't being used much, which gets tougher each time a new PC is introduced.
Cavalry Man - Musket, pistol, sabre, a fast horse and sod all armour. Would have been part of an organised army of course, so likely lawful in nature (but not necessary), would have left the army for some reason of your own choosing. It's likely this PC would be from Falkovnia (which coincidentally is where the PCs currently are). The new Rapid Reload (firearms) feat would be important, although with mounted combat and mounted archery. Class: Fighter.
The mounted stuff clashes a bit with Adelinde, but we're talking mounted melee to mounted ranged and I figure two mounted specialists isn't actually a bad thing, because it almost ensures more mounted combat opportunities.
Skills, personality, likes, dislikes and hobbies would be your choice naturally. Although gambling, drinking and the like are naturally rather common almost Falkovnia soldiers (if he were one).
Not trying to push you in to a roll here, just offering alternatives. If you're really set on someone that uses magic, then we can work that out.
PS. If you did go with the above and got a move on, I could introduce you in this Saturday's session with relative ease.

John.
If you get a chance, hop on Icq and maybe we can discuss some bits in quick time.
Cheers.
