Fiend DR
What are we doing with this fellas?
As it stands im using 2e/3e hybrid type rules I might as well be making up as i go along. The MM and all that have Yugoloths and Baatezu effected by the old +1/+2/+3 rules. Tanarri seem to remain cold iron...
Its a bit of an epic. I prefer the old way, where its silver for Baatezu and Yugo's, Iron for Tanarri.
If we are doing it that way, I just noticed that silver weapons in 3e do -1 dmg. Thats news to me and ive been ignoring that so far. Just reckon we should square this away before it comes up in game.

Re: Fiend DR
Uhm.
I do what I want at the time generally speaking. But I haven't used any fiends in combat, so it's not come up. When I do use them.. dunno.
Some will require more powerful weapons, some won't. Although most aren't bypassed by /magic anyway I think.
The manual of the planes and such have the Yugoloths (or yogoloths, lol), a +1, +2 etc, becaue it's a 3.0 book.
Not sure what you're asking really.

Re: Fiend DR
*sigh*
I just lost the write up of the whole thing.
There's no real consistency in the monster manuals (MM1 for demons & devils, MM2&3 for loths).
Some devils are affected by good, some by silver or good.
Some demons are affected by good, some by cold iron or good.
Some loths are affected by +1 or +3, some by good, Marraenoloths apparently have none at all!
If you want to be consistent for easiness, but still be 3e-ish, I suggest:
All Baatezu (Devils) = Silver or Good.
All Tanar'ri (Demons) = Cold Iron or Good.
All 'Loths (Daemons) = +3 or Good.
Naturally good aligned weapons should be appropriately rare in this scenario.

Re: Fiend DR
After checking, it looks like the MM2 we have is 3e, not 3.5 (MM1 & MM3 are 3.5 versions.)
So, I would change my mind and suggest Yugoloths might be resistant to all but Good aligned weapons.

Re: Fiend DR
thats roughly what i was driving at so works for me.
old skool has the loths vulnerable to silver, so lets go with that too eh. and chaos/law aligned stuff effecting opposites are already included in our custom rules page. i may use the +2/+3 on top of everything else too, depending on the encounter. its only really important to get it sort of set for baatezu and yugos as the 'ri tend to be a bit random anyway.
we happy to bin the -1 dmg for silver weapons in 3e? thats just a pain in the arse for everyone that is.

Well..
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialMaterials.htm#silverAlchemical
It does actually apply in 3.5
Despite which, I'm happy to ditch it anyway.

Re: Fiend DR
All good,
So, for the record and this is tidied up and done with:
Baatezu: Silver/Aligned Chaos or Good
Yugoloth: Silver/Aligned Good
Tanarri: Cold Forged Iron/Aligned Law or Good (usually)
The +1/+2/+3 requirements may also be applied at the DM's discretion.
Alchemical silver weapons do not have the -1 to damage as stated in the books.

Re: Fiend DR
Just need to be a little bit careful with the application of the +X weapons. If a particular fiend needs +2 with DM A, then it shouldn't be +1 or +3 with DM B. Just need to try to be consistent between us which shouldn't be any drama.
