Introduction text: https://baatorian.rpg-board.net/storyline-f3/dd-35-planescape-2010-an-invitation-t165.htm

The new party meet at the Guild of Gentleman Explorers and accept their initiation task. It turns out, to join the guild, they have to go to a outer plane selected at random and and be back in the guild bar before the stroke of midnight, in three days. Out of the hat come's Karangath, Gehenna. (Which isnt too bad, apparently. Ha!)

Dispatching a pair of roosting Gloomwings on the way to the gate from the birdcage is a simple task for the undead warrior, and the group end up going though the portal.

Finding themselves entombed in the throat of a dead dragon, they call the ever hungry Mung Daal into service, and he eats them out. Trapped now in a cave, hopefully in Gehenna, the party are ambushed by the dead dragon's youngling, which has been surviving by praying on berks unfortunate enough to come through the gate. A lot of acid burns later and the enormous Mung eventually manages to bring the thing down.

The explorers make it out of the cave, and establish they must have arrived on Gehenna. Bombarded by meteors from the three other realms poor Jonas loses his head, and has his decapitated body thrown down the mountain by a colleague for good measure.

Gathering themselves back together the group journeys for several hours before coming upon a small fortress for a burg aptly called Precipice, precariously clinging on to the side of the mountain. Naturally the first pit stop is the bar, in which they meet a grumpy and greedy barman who tells them a little of the dark of things...

Trapped in Precipice, three likeminded cutters get talking and set off for a known gate up the mountain. Sadly, nothing being easy in Gehenna it happens to be defended by Baatorian mutant experiments, who they discover are entertaining themselves with a recent supply of prisoners. The group have two options, run for the gate and escape with their skins or risk all and try to destroy the monstrosities and save the prisoners.

The group are commissioned to rescue a dark elven maiden, who is described as a 'damsel in distress'. Unfortunately, this means travelling across the territory of particular clan of Kobolds, who are quite correctly described as 'utter bastards'. After killing a couple, the group are rather easily ensnared within the kobold trap and forced to engage as contestants in some kind of twisted gameshow.

"Will they make it to the gate, or will they get eaten by the crocodiles?"

The group investigate the cave system and find evidence of some kind of infestation of rat like creatures and perhaps something bigger. After an attempt to smoke the creatures out fails, they decide to delegate this problem back to the Explorers' Society.

The adventurers enter the lighthouse and encounter a vicious hag with dreadful claws and bad teeth. Regardless of the poor dentistry and her vile powers they emerge victorious if not unscarred and are able to restore the beacon atop the tower to its proper function.

The party travel into the Hive to meet with the mysterious Vin'car, then are staggered by his demands, but manage to piece together enough to get some information from him. Travelling back to the Lower Ward the party enters the Twisted Tail, a favourite of fiendish folk and Elvanshalee gets a slap for bad pronounication.

Velenur manages to irritate a Glabrezu, then somehow talk his away out of having his head popped off, then the party head back to the Guild House for yet another chat.

Post by ^^Truth 16th September 2010, 8:58 pm

After meeting in the Guild of Gentlemen Explorers, the party set off to speak with the single survivor from the kidnapping of Master Kella da'Afbourne.

Whilst talking to the assimar manservant Elridge, a sudden and dangerous attack is launched upon the party by two Githiyanki assassins and an assemble of random, zombie-like thugs. The battle nearly kills Elvanshalee, yet the party survives to be carted away by the harmonium.

A mysterious white robed man with a blue circular tattoo upon his forehead was seen watching the group before the attack.

The next day the party regroups and heads towards the Portal of Random Precision, happy with their planning, besides the portal the group witness the sickening torture of some poor lost creature and several again notice a figure with a blue circular tattoo on his forehead watching the group.

Leaping through the portal, the PCs land to find themselves in a giant wooden cage, a trap! Outside they're surrounded by men in black and white robes, all with blue circles tattooed upon their foreheads. As the forces outside prepare to destroy the players, the portal opens again and the two Githiyanki assassins appear, yet one destroys the cage that was trapping the PCs whilst the other lays a protective bubble across them all!

With the trap broken, a brutal and bloody battle ensures between the two groups, the PCs aided oddly by the Githiyanki Assassins that attempted to kill them just a day before. Backup swiftly arrives through the portal, but that cannot stop a huge firey collumning wiping out most of the allies.

The bloody battle takes a turn however, and finally the majority of the Black and White Blue Tattoo'd ambushers are slain, a few survivors turning to flee, yet not for long from the furious Korr.

Freezing cold and sporting all manner of atrocious battle wounds, the party gathers itself up and follows a lost path in hope, which pays off as they spot a vikingesque style longhall. After an initial bad reaction, a firey young maiden shows pity on them and allows them to stay. Eventually the party retires for sleep or meditation and prepares to head off the next day.

Tza'rok briefly tries to convince the firey maiden to join them on their journey, but sadly she refuses.

Setting through the frozen mountainous landscape, the group are caught up by the handmaiden from the tavern, whom introduces herself as Evlin and asks if she can join the group, after a while, they accept then head away. They pause briefly to witness a magnificient sight across the mountains, before finding shelter in a cave system.

The group camps, but Silvana upsets a large and angry Yeti mother whom attacks the group with power to defend her babies. The mother is slain, yet not before the father has arrived, whom promptly throws Velenur off the mountain. Korr tosses sword aside and rushes the larger Yeti off the cliff, yet the Yeti manages to pull him off as well, yet perhaps saving Velenur from a nasty fate.

The group dither, a lot, unable to decide whether to stay or go, until Silvana breaks the news that the other two Yetis in the cave are but babies. To her dismay now, the group decide to stay, yet Elvanshalee and Velenur decide that vengeance must be payed in blood.

With anger and hatred running through his mind, Velenur launches a firey attack upon the two playful Yeti cubs, yet something happens with his magic and the power magnifies, absolutely annhilating even the traces of them before he blacks out.

Post by ^^Truth 30th September 2010, 10:26 pm

Having rested, the party travelled down the mountain and to the town of Thorr's Vanguard. Despite some trouble getting in, Silvana decides to flash her boobs to the guard for free entrance, rather than pay a gold piece each.

The bar is hostile to most of the group, having a strong dislike for non-humans and as the group sits, a mysterous Githiyanki who says he knows where Master Kella is and will actually lead the PCs to him, along with four other Githiyanki.

The PCs agree and head to a small cabin, it's quiet and doesn't seem to belong to the Githiyanki, but the PCs deliberately try to turn a blind eye. They all eventually leave and begin up the mountain, the Githiyanki mercenaries aiding the PCs whenever they can.

Finally they reach Thorr's Bastion, where the Githiyanki's plan involves them all dying in a distraction, just so the group can get through the very heavily guarded defensive point. The PCs agree to this bizarre plan without question and it begins.

After the Githiyanki, the PCs rush inside and hack down a couple of figures in there way, yet they're spotted by the larger group and stuck in a small area. Tza'rok masterfully opens a lock at the back of the room and a good thing too as archers and spellcasters burst into the top level and begin to rain death down upon the group. Elvanshalee quickly silences a caster attempting to bring down another bout of divine flame upon the group and the PCs rush through the doorway to safety on the other side.

The PCs continue up the mountain after healing their wounded before coming cross a bridge made of ice, that leads to a plateau that shows signs of an ancient battleground. Across the bridge hooded, unmoving Githyanki await before a large domed building with icy spires raising from it.

The PC head into the chapel and finally find Master Kella, he looks ghastly in appearence and reveals that he has been cursed by the icy-crystal necklace and that to remove the curse blood must be drawn. Drakvar agrees, but stalls as Velenur gets a bad feeling. Master Kella loses patience and tries to hurry the process. Drakvar decides not to draw the blood after all, but decides to headbutt the eight year old boy, breaking his nose and inadvertingly drawing blood!

Suddenly the room freezes and ice cracks and from the back an ancient God of Ice rises! As he does the Githyanki are freed from the mind control being rested over them and the white robed monks of the Holy Flame arrived from magical mist with a huge red-haired elven man.

The party attend the heralded summer ball, hosted by the Da'Alfbournes at the guild building. Tza'rok is delayed by rioting and chaos in the lower ward, apparently the Anarchists and the Madmen have kicked off a rebellion there.

The group imbibe until the behaviour gets to the stage were cutters are ejected. Velenur is escorted out for groping boobs unbidden.

After a browse of the available work on the guild noticeboard the next day the party decide to blitz a new portal, in the hive. En route, they encounter some extorting bandits and a very angry tarry 'leth. After going a few rounds with the boxer from Carceri they jump though the unknown portal, which takes them to a strange tropical paradise, apparently in the Astral or Ethereal plane?...

The party spend the night on the beach and decide to journey inland in search of much needed fresh water.

Something, or somethings seem to be stalking the group and the going through the jungle is tough and tempers fray. They come upon a gorge, difficult to navigate without magic and Silvana takes off to do a bit of ill advised solo exploring.

Silvana is ambushed by some taloned monstrosity and eaten alive in the jungle. The group track back with the aid of her dog and find the body in bits and pieces. A decision is taken to raise her from the dead with a scroll Elvanshalee has.

The resurrection works but Silvana is somewhat underwhelmed by the turn of events. The group move on nonetheless and traverse the gorge, coming upon a much needed waterfall of clear fresh water. A small natural underwater cave is discovered along with some bones of an explorer, long passed. They decide to see out the night protected from whatever beasts there might be out there in the shelter of the cave.

Waking in the dark cave beneath the waterfall, the party discover some ominous talon marks on the rocks outside. Overnight, something seemed to want in...

After some debate they decide to climb to a height and see what there is to see on the island. Gaining the top, they note a green monolith structure, what might look like some kind of village, and the beach they landed on.

A short argument ensues and eventually the destination is decided as the monolith. With Korr seemingly in a particularly bad mood with regard to the decision they travel into the jungle.

That night they decide to make camp in a tall tree setting some traps far below. Predictably, they are attacked in the night by some hellish invisible beasts and well placed featherfall spells prevent certain fatalities.

The party move on in the early dawn after the brutal attack from the jungle beasts. They get lost but between Korr and Tza'rok they get back on track, arriving at the Temple/Monolith in late afternoon.

They enter, although Korr is very opposed to any temple exploring yet Tza'rok and Elvanshalee heedlessly press on. Tza gets around a deadly trap and they discover a secret chamber, containing a long dead mummy and maybe riches!

They are promptly ambushed by wierd blobs of crystal slime, lying in wait at the bottom of a decorative pool.

Many acid burns follow.

In the final adventure of the series the group go about looting the tomb and defiling the poor dead queen's resting place, before setting off on a brutal rush through the jungle in an attempt to avoid spending another night there with the invisible horrors.

They just about make it by sundown before running into a nasty native ambush, a few recklessly cast fireballs in a grim and brutish fight nearly cost Korr his life.

The explorers gain the respect of the tribe after incineration their warband however and are invited to dinner with a twist on the beach...

The following morning the chief of the tribe agrees to send them with an escort to a known portal off the island and with full bellies they depart.

The troupe attend a dinner at the Society of Gentlemen Explorers where despite the frostiness between Korr and Velenur, a generally good time is had by all and for once, Velenur behaves himself and doesn't get chucked out.

Towards the end of the evening, the group are given invites to the End of Season party at the fishing port of Poisson on the prime plane of Merresentia.

Unfortunately on arrival, an unfriendly welcome awaits the group and it soon transpires that a ghost from Korr's past has come back to haunt him.

Drosst Tharn is dead and gone, but the spectre of Githyanki invasion hangs over the world of Merresentia like an evil mist.

The timely appearance of a pair of excellent knights can only be a good thing then, surely.
